Many folks moan and groan about their “Lot in life”. Usually, our own decisions have placed us where we are in life.
Instead of whining, start winning. Why don’t you do something to improve your life. Anyone can improve their existence. There’s a movement out there, 1% each day. Just improve a little bit.
I have a few ideas that may help. Take a look and see if anything helps. Maybe by reading my thoughts, it will cause you to come up with some ideas of your own.

1-Get up early. Recognize how great it is to be alive and taking control of today. Don’t worry about how the day is going to go, cause the day to have to be worried about you.
-Accomplish something while preparing your coffee.
Get “caught up”. While my percolator is perking, I wash any remaining dishes every morning. Just to get “caught up”.
Vacuuming the “busy” part of the house at about 5am works for me.
By 5:30 I’ll be working on an upcoming class or working on a new book.
Short walk at daylight is very encouraging. Experiencing nature is always good and yes, uplifting.
You may think I’m stupid, but having a real percolator to make coffee is FUN. Helps get the day going. They are cheap at Walmart, look in the hunting section. Try it before you make fun of me. You will always have plenty of reasons to make fun of me later. That’s FUN.

-Read something. Remember when your dad or grandpa used to read the paper early while drinking their coffee?
Have a book you are reading, a little each morning. (Something beside the silly newspaper) The Bible works for lots of folks. Fantasy or science fiction is good. Step out of reality for a few minutes each morning. (I love the LotRs)

-Research something you are interested in. Do you enjoy cooking? Watch some YT videos and learn how to bake something you haven’t created before. Watch my biscuit video. It’s impressive. Best biscuits ever.
Cinnamon rolls are fun, try it.
Research a part of history you find interesting.

-Go for a walk right after your coffee.
Doctors like this. My heart doc says: “Sweat, it’s free”.

-Tidy up your desk. Take out the trash. Police your front yard. Clean out your vehicle. Accomplish some little task. Just by doing something this simple, you are already winning the day.
-How about watching the sun come up. Listen to the birds in the early morning. Put out some seed near the windows you will be near during the day. Nature is a good thing.
Now, go and “DO” the day.

2-Be timely.
I didn’t say “On time”. Timely. Did you know that being on time means arriving a few minutes before the set time.
When I was 18, I began a job as a carpenter’s helper. I rolled up on the job at exactly 7 am on my first Monday morning.
The carpenter was already cutting some boards. I walked up expecting to get some instructions. He shut off the saw, looked right at me, and informed me that “work begins at 7. Be here at 5 till”.
So, I did.

3-Dress appropriately
Heard on a tv show: “Don’t look like something from the back of the fridge”.
Good advice.
I hear people say: “Look professional”. Really? Based on who’s definition? Theirs? Who put them in charge of everyone else’s dress code. Piss on them.
How about just looking proper for the current situation?
My mom used to use this term: “Sunday best”.
Does that mean our best clothes were what we wore to church?
Does best mean most expensive?
Most of you would be in full camo at church if that was true. Your most expensive shoes are a good pair of hunting boots. Right?
Probably not a good look at church.
Dress proper for the current situation.
In my profession as an instructor, I want to be one level above my audience. Details in a couple of paragraphs.
Speaking of boots, people you meet day by day always look at your shoes. Shoes are important. I wear boots almost all the time. Boots are more comfortable, and I just feel better with my boots on.
I keep them polished. I wear shiny boots. My boots help me to stand out in the crowd.
What? What’s wrong with “standing out” in the crowd? I like being “That Guy” that people notice.
Come to think of it, I’ve always been “That Guy’. I have pretty hair.
I don’t wear suits. Wearing a tie is stupid, in most situations.
How does wearing a tie mean you are “Dressed Up”?
I’m a public speaker and instructor. I wear dress slacks, a nice shirt, and a vest. Don’t even own a suit coat.
But I do have shiny boots!

My nice shirts are all long sleeves. I roll each cuff up two times. I’m somewhat dressed up and I’m comfortable at the same time. I’m upscale casual and confident.
One more thought on my dress code: Always, I said I always have a bandanna in my back left pocket.
If you don’t like it, hire someone else.

Ok, “One” more thing on how to dress. I have 3 pairs of tennis shoes. I keep a clean nice pair. I can wear them if I wear shorts in the summer. For the more casual of appearances.
The other 2 pairs are for going fishing, morning walks, cleaning out the cat’s litter box, or other exciting things like that.
Wearing your favorite tennis shoes may not be the answer to proper appearance. Have a nice pair.

4-Hygene goes without saying. If you need advice on showering, clean teeth, proper shave, you have a long way to go to get better. I don’t have time to waste on you if you have problems with hygiene.

5-Have a hobby
-Fishing, -Writing
These are mine. If I can go fishing, I go. If I can’t go fishing, I write something. I have published 4 books. Working on two more.
I write all kinds of things for my blog.
Get a website. It will really grow your imagination. I have a website. I created 4 YT channels. My books are listed there. My blog is there. My training page is there. (I have to make a living)
Use your phone and create YT shorts. Shorts are less than a minute. Pick your topics. Give advice, use the topics that you are good at. Do you cook? Post some of your favorite dishes. I make the best homemade biscuits. (Did I already brag about that?) Write a blog and make some YT videos about creating great foods.
Give advice about topics you enjoy while going for walks.
Hobbies, create some.

There, that’s enough.
Get up early
Catch up and accomplish something during your coffee
Dress proper
Clean yourself up
Hobbies are good for you.

You can get better. You can start winning in life, start now.
